Overview of Role
CAPTRUST seeks a dynamic Communications Senior Associate to join its in-house corporate communications/marketing team to help support public relations, strategic communications, accolades, and content development for a rapidly growing and collaborative organization.
This role will be a part of CAPTRUST’s brand marketing team, that is responsible for supporting the firm’s growth efforts and the needs of its retirement plan, endowment and foundation, and wealth management clients. The Communications Associate will work closely with all other members of the brand team.
Responsibilities fall into two primary categories: public relations (70%) and content creation (30%).
Public Relations (70%):
Work with Communications Manager to execute on the firm’s strategic communications plan.
Pitch and secure regular placements across top-tier, broadcast, trade, and local publications.
Draft press releases and pitches.
Create briefing documents and staff interviews, providing feedback to internal team members.
Develop submissions for national, regional, and local awards and accolades.
Develop social media content to amplify the firm’s media coverage on Twitter and LinkedIn.
Track, evaluate, and share results of PR efforts.
Content Creation (30%):
Review content and uphold CAPTRUST’s writing standards.
Draft internal news items for the CAPTRUST website.
Draft and place contributed content from CAPTRUST advisors.
Assist with the development of content for webinars and other events.
Opportunity to write longer-form articles for CAPTRUST publications.
Desired Attributes and Skills
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Three to four years of B2B public relations experience (agency or in-house).
Experience in business and technical writing, data sourcing, market research, project management, or a finance background a plus.
A self-starter and with the ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
Maintains an extreme attention to detail, is organized, and accountable.
An individual that can be coached and has a desire to learn.
Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism.
Superior written communication skills.
Good interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
Works well in deadline-driven environment and stressful situations.
Ability to work on multiple projects with simultaneous deadlines.
