Organizational Unit Overview
The College of Engineering and Technology, comprised of the Departments of Construction Management, Computer Science, Engineering, and Technology Systems, offers academic degree programs, fundamental and applied research, and professional and community service activities focused on maximizing student success, enhancing academic excellence, and advancing research and scholarship – all in support of the Three Commitments of ECU's Strategic Plan: Maximize Student Success, Serve the Public, and Lead Regional Transformation. The Center for Innovation in Technology and Engineering (CITE) serves as the college's nexus for industry engagement; professional/career development and continuing education; and innovation & entrepreneurship (I&E) initiatives. CITE provides central coordination, information sharing, and strategic impact by establishing a comprehensive catalog of CET partnership activities of all kinds, involving both internal and external stakeholders; by coordinating and facilitating faculty and student engagement with stakeholders; and by promoting stakeholder engagement with key college functions (advancement, academic programs, Student Success Center, faculty research and scholarship).

Job Duties
This 12-month, full-time position reports to the Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology. The incumbent assists the college in building and maintaining relationships with key external stakeholders, including corporate partners, community and government partners, alumni, and friends of the college. The incumbent develops and executes action plans that promote strategic engagement of internal stakeholders (students, faculty, and other ECU units) with external stakeholders to achieve our strategic goals and priorities. In these roles, the incumbent will develop engagement strategies and implement action plans that advance the strategic priorities of the college for the benefit of our students, industry and government partners, and the wider community of eastern North Carolina and beyond.

The Director of CITE will develop engagement strategies and implement action plans supporting the strategic priorities of the college, including maximizing student success, enhancing academic excellence, and advancing research and scholarship. CITE's strategies and action plans must promote engagement, investment, and collaboration among internal (students, faculty, other ECU units) and external stakeholders (companies, economic development entities, foundations, alumni and friends of the College). Specific functions include:

Work directly with the Dean to identify and build relationships with various internal and external stakeholders, especially companies, foundations, government entities, economic development agencies, and alumni. This will increase stakeholders' awareness of our students, degree programs, faculty expertise, and strategic initiatives of mutual interest.
Identify and develop opportunities and mechanisms for faculty and students to engage regional industry and businesses in meaningful industrial experiences through internships, co-op employment, faculty-focused or faculty-led projects (including capstone and practicum projects), and other activities
Support and coordinate the College's engagement with innovation & entrepreneurship initiatives and programs within ECU (Miller School of Entrepreneurship, EDEC) and in the community (PCDC, NC East)
Support and coordinate engagement with the College's Advancement Council: assist in developing topical meeting agendas, identifying new members, and deepening relationships with existing members
Assist CET departments in sustaining membership and engagement of their external advisory boards
As a member of the Student Success Center (SSC) team, collaborate with Career Services and external stakeholders to develop, coordinate, and lead the SSC Internship Program, an initiative to maximize engagement of CET students in internships, co-op employment, and other innovative forms of work-study involving external stakeholders
Assist external partners in evaluating their needs with regard to workforce development, training, and technology solutions to identify opportunities for student and faculty engagement
Identify and develop opportunities for faculty engagement in industry-focused, industry-supported applied R&D projects.
Identify and develop opportunities for faculty engagement in the provision of professional development and specialized training courses for industry and community college partners
Identifying opportunities for alumni/friend engagement in campus events, and building pipelines for engagement of new alumni and friends
Assist marketing and communications personnel to promote CET people, programs, and activities to corporate, alumni and community partners, including writing or editing outreach and engagement success stories involving faculty, students, and internal or external stakeholders
Plan and execute College-wide relationship- and community-building events, including (for example) annual Homecoming activities, annual scholarship and donor recognition events, and alumni recognition events
Providing operational and programming leadership within the Dean's Office for other special events and other duties as assigned
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Social Sciences, or other related fields, and five (5) years of experience in building corporate partnerships, community relations, technical sales, and/or employment in STEM-related industries.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Master's Degree.
