Job Description

The Office of University Communications is seeking a Senior Campus Communications Manager. This is a great position for an experienced communications professional interested in developing content for a campus audience and spearheading communications for major, University-wide initiatives. Successful candidates will have experience working in internal communications, strong organizational skills and an ability to solve problems. Additionally, successful candidates will be interested in creating content that highlights UNC-Chapel Hill and the people who make the University such a special place.

Reporting to the associate vice chancellor for campus and community communications and working with colleagues in University Communications, the senior campus communications manager provides strategic communications support to senior University administrators and serves, along with other colleagues in University Communications, as a lead communicator on major University-wide initiatives. The senior campus communications manager works collaboratively with communications professionals across campus and other senior leaders to deliver a consistent message that supports the University’s priorities as outlined in the University’s strategic plan, Carolina Next: Innovations for Public Good, and advances the University’s position as a leader in higher education.

The senior manager will also be a contributing writer for The Well, the University’s online platform for faculty and staff news. In this role, the senior manager will participate in integrated content planning meetings and write and curate timely news stories and creative features that inform and engage the campus community.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with University of North Carolina System Office policy. UNC-Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
